difficult to know how to bridge a rather unbelievable gap of 9 months or so. a simple "ahem" doesn't really seem to cover it. but if i will insist on writing down parts of my life in different places and then flitting from one to the other, it will have to be like this. and perhaps i'd better not try to fill in the past few months but just pretend that nothing has changed. which of course isn't entirely true. but in certain ways it is. one thing that has changed though, is location. paris has been traversed - though it remains to return to - and i'm once again safely tucked away in the leafiness of a london suburb. summer seems to have almost slipped by, between trips to the library and the furnishing of a small appartment in the east of paris. summer's highlight? a southern wedding over in chattanooga, tn. a week of being back in the US and drinking in all the sights, sounds and smells of a country that i am becoming more and more fond of. though from a distance. the wedding was beautiful, but too abrupt. i managed to find a place in the service though, and got away with singing a song i'd finished writing in the plane from NY. speaking of which, it's my new favourite place, and destination for many a library daydream. but perhaps more on that later. for now, i'm back home (at least as close to home as i can get these days) and life is ok. not spectacular, not overwhelming. just ok. more on that too ...
